The role

We're looking for an experienced Head of Planning /Head of Digital PR Strategy to join us on a maternity cover basis. You’ll be the strategic anchor – bringing clarity, strategic rigor, and commercial sharpness to everything we do. 

There is some scope flexibility so we can consider candidates on a 3-5 day basis, for a minimum of 6-months, with the potential to extend) and a chance to shape the channel strategies and impact for both always-on, and campaigns, for our mix of clients. 

What you’ll be doing

  • Leading the way: Provide strategic leadership across the channels – namely, digital PR, SEO, social media, influencer marketing and LLMs. Including collaboration with SLT on fresh approach thinking to help continue driving the agency proposition forward. 

  • Client leadership and project management: Senior client lead for SEO-only clients and Bottle’s Planning team. And ensuring all Planning workstreams – and team members – are meeting project milestones and goals, seamlessly. 

  • Guidance and challenge: Mentor our in-house senior strategists, and freelance partners, ensuring best thinking rises to the top.  

  • Setting the pace: Overseeing, and contributing to, annual planning for retained clients, in collaboration with our Comms team to set ambitious, yet achievable KPIs. And then maintaining an over-sight at quarterly reviews and helping to course correct where necessary. 

  • Shaping the strategy: Working with the senior strategists to deliver of full-funnel channel audits and year-one roadmaps for new clients. 

  • Knowing the audience: Turning market and audience insights into campaign strategies that land, and brand guidance documents designed to last 

  • Rolling your sleeves up: Delivering elements of the SEO deliverables or Audience Audits (expectation that the billable % is c. 70%) 

About you

You’re a natural strategic leader – someone who sees the big picture but can also get hands-on when needed.  

Your expertise includes: 

  • Multi-channel mastery: You bring senior-level experience across digital PR, SEO, and social media channels, as well as have a good understanding of what it takes to drive brand visibility in AI/LLMs. 

  • Project management skills: You can juggle complex workstreams, keep priorities clear, and bring structure without slowing effectiveness, or creativity. 

  • Client-first mindset: You think both commercially and strategically, but never lose sight of the client goals. 

  • Analytical edge: You’re comfortable pulling insights from data and turning them into clear recommendations that drive action. 

  • Great communicator: Whether with clients, senior leaders, or your team, you explain, inspire, and challenge with confidence. Both in person and in written format. 

Everyone needs these: 

  • Senior-level experience in digital PR, marketing, or content agencies. 

  • Experience managing multiple clients and complex workstreams. 

  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills with creative, content and account teams. 

  • Consultative mindset with the ability to give clear direction to both teams and clients. 

  • Hands-on experience with digital tools like Google Analytics, Google Search Console, Tag Manager, Ahrefs, Screaming Frog, social ads managers.

  • Hybrid working - Oxford-based location with option to work-from-home 1-out-of-the 3 days a week. 

  • Salary of c.£60,000 pa DOE (pro-rata) 

  • Minimum 6-month contract, with potential to extend.
