A year of link building with Gousto

Our tastebuds started tingling in October 2021, when we added a tasty new client Gousto to our collection of clients. Yum.

The big goal has been to build the recipe box brand’s backlink profile and maintain search visibility for the Gousto homepage in an incredibly competitive space.

Since then, we’ve been cooking with gas. Here’s a look at our first year with them.

Building a bank of tantalising stories for journos

With the help of Gousto’s expert chefs, helpful recipe developers and insightful nutritionists, we’ve created a bank of media-ready content for important calendar hooks that can be used year after year in the cyclical news agenda. From recipes and cooking tips to nutritional advice and sustainable eating secrets, there’s something in our collection for every home, lifestyle, or foodie journalist to cover.

Storming ahead on food trends, as well as your typical seasonal trends, has meant we always had something to pitch out, helping Gousto be the name on everybody’s lips when it comes to cooking content.

Harnessing high quality links

We remained been hungry for high quality links and ended 2022 feeling full.

 Over the course of the last 15 months, these were our coverage results:

-       317 pieces of Gousto coverage

-       184 URDs

-       1,406 links to the Gousto website

The golden targets included national and lifestyle publications, landing links in the likes of the Independent, Metro, Men’s Health, Good Housekeeping, Stylist and Cosmopolitan, to name a few…

Of course, all PR’s are pitch, pitch, pitching to these household name media so continuing to add foodie and lifestyle independent media and blogs to the outreach list was imperative in the volume of backlinks and URDs we achieved.

Surpassing our search visibility ambition

Competing for visibility on page one of Google is no easy feat, even for a household name like Gousto. The home recipe box market boomed during the pandemic, so Gousto has a whole stack on competitors all fighting for those top spots against generic keywords and search terms.

Building relevant backlinks from high-quality media sites helped us to grow Gousto’s desktop visibility by +7.4% in 2022, and mobile by +5.2%.
